Thank you for this (saw link on Sigma Game). Been trying to find a succinct and cogent explanation for why I instinctively recoil from Nietz and his ilk. Bravo.

Thanks! If you were to let folks over there know you read it and found it good, I'd be very grateful.

I need to read Heidegger, he seems to be chasing me. 😂

Fantastic article though, thank you.

Great post.

Reading it I couldn’t help but think of 2020.

Would you say the worldwide response was affirming what is given or denying what is given?

I don't watch the news. Being that it's mostly propaganda, I've long held that one will have a much better idea of what is going on if they block out media and simply observe the world around them.

At a point, I noticed far fewer cars on the road and people acting obnoxiously in stores: masks, sanitizer, scurrying away from other people, etc. Eventually I did some research online and saw a bunch of hysteria and clearly-bad-acting videos of people "collapsing" and "lying dead" in the streets of China.

Lo and behold, pretty much everybody "got covid" -- that is, pretty much everybody got a cold/flu as per usual, just like every other year. That is to say: winter is winter, water is wet, and people get colds and are sick for a few days. But even many of those people who got sick for a few days and recovered *insisted* on carrying on with all of the hysterics, paranoia, militant enforcement of narratives, "trust the science," etc.

They denied not only the reality in front of them, but the reality of cold/flu seasons that they've been acquainted with for their entire lives.

I realise I am late to the party comments-wise, but this is a superb takedown of the Nietzschean viewpoint. Many thanks. You’ve also persuaded me, as no one has before, to take a proper look at Heidegger. This is a fantastic Substack

Got a recommendation from Librarian of Celeano (check spelling), and am hooked. Keep up the good work. And if it is possible to send a small financial contribution, please let me know. I am paying for Substacks much worse than this one…

Very nice piece. In fact, the only thing that I would add is the explanation for the Nietzschean worldview. In the spirit of your post I will explain them in the manner of our beloved Mr. Either-Or. Those who deny the 'given' nature of reality do not do it because it seems to them true or reasonable but because they are spiritless. The great unifying factor of the Nietzscheans is despair leading to a lack of passion. They do not want to be themselves, thus they cannot be anything with passion. All of the theoretical energy of Nietzsche and his followers never becomes actual. I plead with you Dissident Right, be done with these morons!

I would say, as not a Christian but as someone who thinks Christian morality tends to be right, if you simply start at the truth, that will tend to help you.

Why is homosexuality a sin? Because it is aberrant, and no one is homosexual. They are either conditioned, or they are not.

Why is killing babies a sin? Because they are actual people who actually are there being killed, and if you have any consistency, you are either Genghis Khan or you DON'T like that.
